Biography

Completed the PhD in History – Pre-history in 2010, Master in Prehistory and Archaeology in 1997 and Degree in History, specialization in Archaeology in 1993, all in University of Lisbon, School of Arts. Is Assistant Professor in University of Lisbon, School of Arts since 2013 and previously had positions as deputy director of Directorship of Cultural Heritage of the portuguese government (2011-2013) and as coordinator of Archaeology Bureau of Mafra Municipality (1997-2011). Researcher at UNIARQ since 1994. 

Develops research on the ancient peasant societies, especially on the 4th and 3rd millennium BC. Directed several research projects on the fortified prehistoric settlement of Penedo do Lexim (Lisbon), the subject of her PhD thesis, and is currently studying other chalcolithic settlements in the Lisbon region. Collaborates in several projects dedicated to the settlement and megalithism, namely in the project ANSOR, Anthropization of the Sorraia Valley (Coruche) or in the project to enhance the Artificial Caves of Casal do Pardo (Palmela). Directed over 80 excavations (Mesolithic, Early Neolithic, Megalithism, Chalcolithic, Bronze Age).
