Kurt Alt
Biography
Kurt W. Alt studied dentistry and biological anthropology. From 1999 to 2013, he was full professor of anthropology at the University of Mainz, Germany. His research focuses on sex and age determination, genetic kinship, population genetics, and the evolution of disease, the reconstruction of subsistence patterns, diet, mobility and migration, being fundamental to the understanding of biological and cultural evolution. Since his retirement, he has been working as a Professor at the Danube Private University, in Krems, Austria, heading the Center of Natural and Cultural History of Man. His most recent research focuses on the interface of cultural and natural history with medicine.
